Verbena & Clay Spa & Salon Studio
— Our Story —

Care, without the rush

Verbena & Clay was built on one belief: that skincare, bodywork, hair, and nail care shouldn't feel like items on a conveyor belt. Here's how a small studio in Asheville set out to prove it.

— How We Began —

A small room, a slower pace

Verbena & Clay opened in 2016 in a quiet storefront a few blocks off downtown Asheville. Our founder, longtime esthetician Noa Ellison, had spent a decade in fast-paced salons where twenty-minute facials were squeezed between color appointments and pedicures ran on a timer. She opened Verbena & Clay to prove there was another way — a studio where a single guest could occupy a single room for a single hour, without anyone else's appointment creeping into it.

Ten years later, that original idea hasn't changed. We've since added a full hair studio and expanded our nail bar, but every treatment at Verbena & Clay is still built around the same promise: your appointment is the only one happening in that room, at that time, for you.

“Good care can't be rushed. So we simply stopped rushing it.”
— Our Approach —

Philosophy, in Practice

Unhurried by Design

We build real breathing room into every schedule, so your sixty-minute massage is never quietly squeezed to forty-five.

Ingredients We'd Use Ourselves

Every product line on our shelves is chosen by the same estheticians who reach for it on their own skin, at home.

Trained Hands, Honest Advice

We'll tell you when you don't need the upsell. Our team is there to care for your skin well, not to fill a retail quota.

— The Space —

A studio that feels like exhaling

Warm plaster walls, low ambient light, and a scent that changes gently with the seasons — every corner of Verbena & Clay was chosen to slow your heart rate down before a single treatment begins.

Our reception doubles as a lounge, our styling floor stays quiet enough for real conversation, and every treatment room closes with a door — not a curtain.

The easiest way to understand Verbena & Clay is to sit in one of our rooms. We'd love to have you.
